Atlanta Non-Profit Homeless Service Providers Nominated for Statewide Humanitarian Awards
Atlanta– Today, the Georgia Coalition to End Homelessness, at statewide community of over 1100
homeless assistance service providers released the nominees for their annual Humanitarian Awards. Of the individuals and organizations
nominated from across the state, the Atlanta nominees included Charlie Bliss of the Georgia Department
of Human Resources, Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Addictive Diseases; Families
First , an agency providing counseling, parenting and group home services to low income and homeless families and
teens; Genesis ”A New Life” an emergency transitional community for homeless families and Hadayai
Majeed Administrator of the Baitul Salaam Network, Inc a women’s and children's crisis outreach and sheltering program
serving women of all faiths and providing the much needed services for Muslim women. These
individuals and organizations have been nominated by their peers for exhibiting outstanding service to the homeless and impoverished
community and representing outstanding models of service, collaboration and leadership. They are involved in innovative or
unique programs that support and assist homeless people with exceptional service provision that ultimately strives to end
homelessness.

the needs of those who are homeless and hungry in our communities” said Katheryn Preston, Executive Director if the
Georgia Coalition to End Homelessness. For so many families with children and individuals these organizations
represent hope”. “…many Georgians are only one pay check away from being homeless themselves”.
Preston estimates that on any given night in Georgia there are 23,000 people living in shelters or on the street.
The individual and organizational nominees from across the State of Georgia will be honored at the Third Annual
Humanitarian Awards Banquet in Savannah at the Hilton Savannah Desoto, 15 E. Liberty Street at 6:00 pm on Wednesday,
