The Baitul Salaam Residence for Abused and Neglected Women and Children is now back in Fulton County. We will officially
open Monday, November 9, 2006, insh'Allah. Currently we are interviewing candidates for residency. For security reasons
we cannot divulge the address of the shelter. Unfortunately some of our sisters and their children have had their
lives threatened by the abusers from whom they have separated themselves. Also, in a home where you have women and children
residing, do you want the world to know they are there alone? NO!
The residence will be visited by trusted
friends and volunteer workers. There will be enough people who will know it exists to verify that it is real for those
of you who need verification of its existence. No one who works at the shelter should tell you its address or even the
part of the city where it is located.
And as always We need your help to keep the doors open.
We
started this journey Monday, November 1, 1999 in Fulton County, City of Atlanta, and seven years later we are back where we
began. Allah is the best knower of our affairs. We have assisted in the shelter program alone 458 women and children.
Through our outreach we assist 3-5 families per week for the past 9+ years, Alhamduallah! You do the math. We
have done this with the aid and permission of Allah. Through many wonderful volunteers and other supporters, Allah has
made life better for those who have come to us.
We need your assistance on all levels to do this work. We ask that everyone who gives now ask at least one friend, relative
or co-worker to give. If we do this as a community we can keep the doors open with or without public funding.
Just think: If 1,000 people would commit to $4.00 per month the basic funding will be in place. Most of us can do this
without any problems. Think of the blessings from Allah for saving families and lives threatened by domestic violence.
We
have a grant writer on board who is sending off letters and grant proposals monthly. We just need you to give
us a push to help us raise $4,000 per month to keep the doors open, insh'Allah.
Use the PLEDGE FORM to apprise us of your donation intention. This is important. Knowing what funds to anticipate helps with operations planning
and with grant writing.
Please do not hesitate to ask friends, family members, and co-workers to join you in giving help to families who are in
crisis due to abuse and negligence.
Your donations are tax deductible.
There will be a New Volunteer
Orientation meeting on Thursday, November 9, 7 pm at Masjid Al Mu minun, 1127 Hank Aaron Dr. SW. To RSVP your attendance
please call (404) 366-6610.
May Allah continue to bless you and your families. More details to follow
in the next few weeks, insh'Allah.
ma salaam
